Being a good landlord is essential to the success of your rental property. Today, we’re sharing some landlord advice that can help you if we choose to work together.
CommunicationWe have to communicate. Every relationship is based on communication, and if you don’t communicate properly, things will fall apart. With communication comes responsiveness. Part of being a good landlord is responding to us, because if we contact you via email, text, or phone, we need something. There is an issue to be addressed pertaining to your property or your tenants. So, if we ask you for something like information on the HOA or a document we might need, please be responsive and help us help you.
Ask QuestionsAnother way to be a good landlord is to ask questions. Talk to us up front about what you need. You’ll want to ask how much we charge, how we take that payment from your rental payments every month, and how we handle maintenance issues. You should also ask how we collect rent, what we do with security deposits, and how we enforce your lease. We have a lot of these answers online and in blogs, but nothing beats having a real conversation with your property manager and getting all your questions answered.
Becoming a Landlord: Working TogetherTo be a good landlord, you need to do your part and expect that we will do ours. We will set expectations right up front. We’ll do what we say we’re going to do, and we’ll keep you informed about everything. You should have high standards and strong expectations as well. If you feel like we’re not doing our part or not delivering what you expect, let us know. You can hold us accountable.
